The startup either accelerates and simplifies the handling of tasks by legal experts (ENHANCE), or replaces tasks usually done by legal experts (REPLACE). However, it is important to note that the replacement in question only concerns services provided by legal experts. Technological tools and their advances, as presented here, may not be sufficient in themselves. Although these tools could eventually replace tasks performed by legal experts, they will not come to replace them entirely, in all their activities.
Glossary
Sharing: this category includes all the legal expert’s activities allowing them to disseminate or receive information. The information in question relates to both the search for a contact (lawyer, colleague, notary, etc.) and the search for legal information (doctrine, jurisprudence, law, etc.).
This information can come from peers or from institutional databases. In this case, the information received is used to prepare the production of legal data.
Information can also be generated by the legal expert or the lawyer for other players. In this case, the information will be aimed at understanding the law, exchanging with peers and with clients (internal and external) or raising the profile of their activity in the numerous online directories, for example.
This “Sharing” field therefore includes startups concerning legal databases, platforms for the provision of lawyers, communication services at the service of legal experts.
Delivering: this category contains the core of legal experts’ activity. It groups together startups offering a legal service and therefore covers drafting contracts, resolving disputes, registration of companies, etc.
Decision making: this category is aimed at the legal service segment with the highest added value. This area includes anything that allows the legal expert to deliver legal advice. It therefore covers the production of analyses, conclusions and statistics that are intended to assist in the measurement of risk and ultimately in decision making.
